Special teams star Brenden Schooler was the only New England Patriots player who made the AFC Pro Bowl roster on Thursday. The Patriots social media team released a video of coach Jerod Mayo delivering the news to Schooler that he earned his first Pro Bowl nod.

When you’re 3-13 heading into the final weekend of the season, it probably shouldn’t be surprising that you don’t garner much attention when the NFL decides to make its Pro Bowl selections.

Pro Bowl snubs happen every year, but the New England Patriots aren’t in any position to be complaining about snubs this season, except for when it comes to cornerback Christian Gonzalez. The second-year defensive back was one of the best players at the position this season.

For the first time in his career, Brenden Schooler has made the Pro Bowl. The former rookie free agent was voted as the AFC’s special teamer, a fact that he learned about in a surprise meeting with New England Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo.
