As many families begin to rebuild after Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact robbed whole communities of the things they hold near and dear, one North Carolina family is grieving the loss of 11 of its family members.

Many people coming to Immaculata had no financial buffer for a disaster like Helene ”and are thankful for whatever supplies they can get.” Water and power may soon be restored in much of Hendersonville-Asheville but mountain communities will be another story.

While sustainability was a driver for the construction of the brewery, and the site elevation was raised to mitigate a 100-year flood (which helped the damage), it could not prevent total flooding from such a catastrophic and powerful event as we saw at the end of September, and into early October.
