A couple salvages the remains of their mobile home in Lakewood, Fla., after a tornado spawned by Hurricane Milton on Oct. 9 devastated their neighborhood and left six dead.

Hurricane Milton devastated Florida, causing tornadoes, cutting power for over 3.3 million, putting 11 million at flood risk, and resulting in at least 12 deaths.

Florida residents who fled hundreds of miles to escape Hurricane Milton made slow trips home on crowded highways, weary from their long journeys and the cleanup work awaiting them but also grateful to be coming back alive.
