A young Massachusetts man who is facing a slew of serious charges in connection with a rape investigation is being held on $50,000 bail, authorities said.

Freetown police said an Assonet man who was arrested last week on rape and assault charges will be facing a judge on Tuesday.

A 23-year-old Assonet man allegedly committed multiple offenses, including rape, drugging for sexual intercourse, strangulation, intimidation of a witness, and three counts of assault and battery, police said.

A rape suspect who was arrested on Friday was held in jail through the long weekend pending his first court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.
