Donald Trump has given a full pardon to Ross Ulbricht — the man responsible for founding world's first darknet market Silk Road.

In 2015, a 31-year-old yoga enthusiast from Austin named Ross Ulbricht was found guilty of being the online drug kingpin “Dread Pirate Roberts.” Convicted on 7 counts, the judge sentenced him to life in prison. Trump pardoned Ulbricht on Tuesday and now he’s a free man after more than 10 years in custody.

Donald Trump has announced a ‘full and unconditional’ pardon for Ross Ulbricht, the creator of the dark web drug market known as The Silk Road. Ulbricht was convicted in 2015 and sentenced to life in prison for running the underground marketplace, which saw over $200 million of illicit trade conducted using bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies.
