According to NASA, the supermoon will technically occur at 10:26pm AEDT on Thursday night, but the moon will actually appear at its biggest around dusk. It can be easily observed across all of Australia with the naked eye by simply looking up, as long as the skies are clear.

The full moon on its own makes people stop and stare, but the one that'll be in the sky until Friday is even more unique than usual.

While a supermoon is technically bigger and brighter than a regular full Moon, it only appears about 7% larger—which can be an imperceptible difference to the human eye, depending on other conditions.
