Tesla’s stock price was down 8% early Friday after a Thursday event where company CEO Elon Musk unveiled a new two-door electric vehicle dubbed Cybercab that is designed for fully autonomous operation, a feature most notable in the car’s lack of steering wheel or pedals.

Tesla is set to hold an event Thursday titled “We, Robot” where the company is expected to unveil a fully autonomous vehicle that CEO Elon Musk has called a “Cybercab.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk first floated the idea of launching a robotaxi network using autonomous Teslas in 2019, saying he expected to begin deployment the following year. But Musk isn’t exactly known for sticking to his timelines.

Tesla unveiled its long-awaited robotaxi at a Hollywood studio Thursday night, though fans of the electric vehicle maker will have to wait until at least 2026 before they are available.

The product launch in Burbank didn’t address how Tesla will make the leap from selling advanced driver-assistance features to fully autonomous vehicles.
