NEW YORK (AP) — Cade Cunningham scored 36 points, Malik Beasley had 22 and a pair of clutch 3-pointers in the final 40 seconds and the surging Detroit Pistons beat New York 124-119 on Monday night, their second straight victory over the Knicks after dropping the previous 16 meetings.

The Pistons had a one-point lead late in the game when Malik Beasley hit a three-pointer in the corner and ran back up the court pointing at fans. After Jalen Brunson made a layup to get back within two points, Beasley had another answer.

Malik Beasley scored 23 points, Cade Cunningham had 13 points and the Detroit Pistons won their fifth straight game, 113-98 over the Brooklyn Nets.

Beasley is also on his way to obliterating a Pistons’ record by so much it's almost laughable. It’s hard to believe, but the Pistons’ record for 3-point makes in a season is 211 by Saddiq Bey back in the 2021-22 season. Bey shot 7.4 per game and hit 39 percent of them, numbers that Beasley is easily besting.
