TAMPA, Fla. ( WFLA) — The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a disturbance in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean. As of the NHC’s Sunday morning update, the system has a 30% chance of development as it moves westward or southwestward across the tropical Atlantic over the next seven days.

The “well-defined area of low pressure” several hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands has a medium — or 40 percent chance — of formation, forecasters said Sunday.

As per the National Hurricane Center's 11 am Friday update, Tropical Storm Leslie is 1585 miles west-southwest of the Azores, with maximum sustained wind of 50 mph. It’s moving at 10 mph to the north-northeast.

Showers and storm activity has increased over the past few hours. These storms are associated with an area of low pressure a few hundred miles west of the Cabo

As per the National Hurricane Center’s 4 pm Friday update, Tropical Storm Leslie is 1480 miles west-southwest of the Azores, with maximum sustained wind of 50 mph. It’s moving at 17 mph to the northeast.

The National Hurricane Center’s 4 pm Thursday advisory reported that Tropical Storm Leslie is 1710 miles west-southwest of the Azores, with maximum sustained wind of 70 mph. It’s moving at 8 mph to the northwest.
